HPV Test
Description
Did you know that cervical cancer is the 4th most common cancer for women worldwide, and is actually preventable?
This HPV Test detects the presence of various types of human papillomaviruses (HPV) which are known to be associated with cervical cancer.
HPV is primarily transmitted through sexual contact and is prevalent among young individuals. Consequently, it is not uncommon for the HPV test to yield positive results, and many HPV infections tend to resolve naturally within one to two years. It is important to note that the progression of cervical changes leading to cancer typically takes several years, often spanning a decade or more.
Knowing the type of HPV you are infected with empowers you and your doctor to make informed and personalized healthcare decisions. These decisions may involve ongoing monitoring, additional tests, or treatment for abnormal cells, among other potential steps.

Individual genotyping of high-risk HPV strains 16, 18, 45, 31, 51, 52, as well as others reported in groups (33, 58), (35, 39, 68), (56, 59, 66).
Genotypes 16 and 18 account for 70% of invasive cancer worldwide, but their prevalence is declining as vaccination rates increase.
Genotypes 31, 33, 58 have a high risk similar to genotype 18, but 51, 35, 39, 68, 56, 59, 66 have a much lower risk.
Extended genotyping supports risk stratification and persistence monitoring to guide patient management
